Mentoring for Artists and Curators

Sarah Dobbs brings more than 20 years of experience mentoring artists and curators, in Canada and abroad. She brings unique insight, knowledge, and real-life guidance not easily found in books or from other sources.

She will work with you to further your practice and capitalize on your strengths, to help in your approach to both commercial and public art galleries, expand your networks and opportunities or to guide you through marketing and sales plans.

Dobbs Art Consulting offers a variety of packages to help you stay on track. Consultations are artist, or curator-driven and discussions are tailored towards meeting your goals.

Advisory for Art Collectors

Whether you are just beginning to collect art or have done so for many years, and want to build and develop your collection, Sarah can guide you in curating and managing your personal collection. She can advise you on the best pieces to source for investment purposes and has expert knowledge of specific art styles, periods and genres to meet your personal tastes and investment goals. Sarah performs extensive research on her clients’ behalf and will arrange private viewings to acquire new works for new and established collectors.

Sarah has worked, locally and internationally, with individual art collectors, corporations, and public institutions to manage and care for cohesive art collections and/or archives. She can help manage your collection, create an inventory and deaccession it through sales and donations or a combination of both if that is what you are seeking..

Arts in Healthcare

Sarah is able to advise large public institutions on a range of research-based improvements to both interior and exterior spaces. She can curate permanent or temporary exhibitions by partnering with cultural facilities or by using the art collection. Sarah has extensive experience working in this arena of healthcare. She has redesigned dementia units in Vancouver and Ireland to improve patient compliance, and has utilized historic archives to assist in wayfinding. Sarah has also repurposed exterior spaces that are not being used into healing gardens for reflection and more public exterior spaces for animated spaces for fun.
